Electrelane - Take the Bit Between Your Teeth
My Stereolab obsession also extends to bands that sound like Stereolab.
Tony the Bookie - True Love
(from the recent debutĀ Tony the Bookie presents…the Tony the Bookie Orchestra)
Caught this show for the first time Sunday and was greatly impressed…lot of talent and pure enjoyment between Tony the Bookie and his Orchestra (featuring, among others, the same Elio Deluca of Faces on Film, Mr. Sister, Hallelujah the Hills, and, by my estimate, several dozen more projects). I debated between this track, Georgia’s Song, and Rain Check, but this is the one stuck in my head for now.
The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms
Yes, it’s the title track, which I suppose makes it a lazy choice…but it really is a crazy rhythm.
The Stooges - Dirt
Friday. Noontime. I’m getting stuff done today, thanks to several cups of my favorite stimulant, a 45 furious minutes on/15 calm minutes off intensity, and a virtual stack of albums starting with all three legit Stooges albums in order. Tore through The Stooges psychedelia, into the perfect bruising genius of Fun House now, with Raw Power still to come.
On deck: Pink Flag; Playing with Fire; Heaven’s End; Loveless; The Clash; London Calling; Signals, Calls, and Marches; VS.; and some Coltrane’s Sound or The Sound of Things to Come to cool me down. So yeah, pretty much the usual suspects, just end-to-end with the volume jacked to 11.
Elliott Smith - Kings Crossing
I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this track at least once before, but it didn’t show up in a search, so screw it…
The Cure - Disintegration
That’s right, I’m posting Disintegration on the first day back to work of the new year. Wallow in it.
The Pogues - Fairytale of New York
Merry Christmas tumblrs!
The Velvet Underground - The Black Angel’s Death Song
…because today definitely has a “cozy brown snow of the east” feel.
Choose a side…choose to go.
