Trying to get the look down for the short stop-motion film I’m shooting. Thanks to Sexton for going to such great lengths to transform himself into this zombie creature.
Quick summary of the process of creating this shot. Top left is the original. I made a virtual copy (top right) and adjusted the image settings until I was happy. I then adjusted the original until I got the eyes where I liked them (bottom left). Exported to Photoshop as layers, masked all of the lighter photo except the eyes, which were blended as a luminosity layer. Then I went around dodging and burning to get the sunken eyes and proper shadows, and a better color cast and contrast on the smoke. Voila.
