Faces on Film, on the road
I’m typing this up from the very back seat of a MegaBus coach from Buffalo Airport to Toronto. After staying with my sister in Chicago for the weekend, I’m rejoining the Faces on Film/Foreign Born/The Veils tour for tonight’s show at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Flying direct would have been easier, but I already had the ticket back to Boston and it just made more sense to transfer those Southwest funds to the new itinerary. Thus, Buffalo (a Southwest airport) and the three hour bus ride across the border.
I haven’t really had a chance to process all the photos I’ve been taking, but I like this one from the early driving days, before we got to Minneapolis.
Also, the Veils have been as good as I hoped and Foreign Born a pleasant discovery. For $10-12 on average, audience members are getting a pretty fantastic night of music at the indie clubs we’re hitting. As for those clubs, I’d give 7th St Entry (Minneapolis) a B- (bonus points for history, but a weak crowd and disappointing sound) and the Empty Bottle (Chicago) an A (great crowd, great sound, nice owners, and a varied and inexpensive beer list). I’ll get impressions of the Cleveland and Pontiac, MI, venues from Mike & the others when I meet up with them tonight.
