Darkspark, you have to go to Japan. We hiked up to the top of the range (not that far, we had more fun hiking up an avalanche zone and along a ridge to this amazing cornice that we’d hit) and then we would ride down to the left of this picture into an awesome bowl.
The best part was that all the snow was so soft and dry and deep. So good.

That looks fantastic! I have been to Japan actually. That is when I realised what snow is supposed to be like. Where is this photo taken? I went to Furano (Hokkaido) instead of the more popular Niseko as it isn’t crowded with Australians of the objectionable kind and since it is favoured by locals it is still very much a cultural experience.  It’s a shame that Japan is not exactly in the right season at this moment for heat escaping purposes.

I feel like every impression I have of Japan (and Hokkaido in particular) comes from Haruki Murakami’s novels & stories. It’s a lovely dreamlike vision of a country in my mind.
